This is a little piece showing the first meeting of my agents, Mira and Somariel.
Congratulations, Agent Mira, the Marquis de Sod said. Your request to transfer from the DoI to the DMS, Freelance division, has been approved. If you return to your response center, your partner should be arriving there shortly.
“Thank you, sir,” Mira replied. “Do you know who my partner is going to be?”
All I know is that she’s just completed some preliminary training and I believe she may have some medical issues, the Marquis answered. Now please get out of here so I can get on with the rest of my work.

The red-blonde haired young woman coming along the corridor was an unusual sight for PPC Headquarters, but only because she was riding along on a bright red mobility scooter. Somariel knew she was getting a few weird looks from other people in the hallway, but she was used to those. Right now she was busy trying to find her new partner’s response center. Catching something out of the corner of her eye, she turned her head to look at it. There it is, she thought, RC #10145. Right, now I need to make sure I make a good first impression.
Raising her hand, she knocked on the door to the RC and waited. The door was quickly opened by a short, black haired girl of about eighteen years of age. “Agent Mira?” Somariel asked. “I’m Somariel, your new partner.”
“Pleased to meet you,” Mira said. “Come on in. Is the scooter what the Marquis was referring to when he said you have some medical issues?”
“Sort of,” Somariel answered, maneuvering the scooter into to the response center. “It’s really the reason for having the scooter that’s the medical issue. I have reduced lung function and therefore, reduced stamina, due to an autoimmune disease. Medical’s come up with an inhaler that restores full lung function for a limited time, but I still find the scooter faster for getting around HQ.”
“As long as you’re able to go on missions without the scooter, I don’t really care how you’ve fixed the issue,” Mira said.
“Thanks,” Somariel said. “Where would be a good place to park this thing and plug it in?”
“Right next to the hall door would fine,” Mira replied. “The bathroom’s through the door in the left wall and the living space is through the door in the right wall. How much shelf space do you need for your books and stuff?”
“Quite a bit for the books,” Somariel said. “I have enough manga to fill a small bookcase and a few shelves worth of regular books. Other than that, I just have a few changes of clothing, my weapons, and my medical stuff. Currently, everything’s in my bag,” she continued, pointing to the backpack in the back basket on the scooter.
“What’s your weapon of choice?” Mira asked.
“Bow and arrows,” Somariel answered. “I’d used a bow recreationally a few times before I joined the PPC, so it seemed like a natural choice. What’s yours?”
“Sword and dagger, with knives as backup,” Mira said. “You should unpack your stuff now, since we’re likely to be interrupted at any moment by--,”
[BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!]
“--that,” she finished.
I know it's short, but I'll get more into their personalities in the mission.

Date: 2010-05-13 06:33 pm (UTC)I found Somariel a bit chatty for someone that's introvert. Was she nervous meeting her new partner? She seemed very much at ease right away.
Just some thoughts.
